Softly Call the Muster....

.. let comrade answer, "Here."...

A wreath was laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers in honor of the Aggies who died in the past year defending our country.

Me apparently trying to make myself shorter? The wonderful 2010 Aggie Muster Committee... it was a great success!! Around 350 people came!

There were 50 names in all...

We're going to miss you, Ashley!!!

Easter Sunrise Service at Arlington Cemetery

A new tradition!! Easter Sunrise Service at Arlington Cemetery. It was fantastic. I admit I had a bit of narcissistic heroism going, thinking I was going to be one of the few waking up early and trudging up the hill.... but I was most pleasantly surprised. When I finally made it there (locked myself out of the house, climbed in through my bathroom window... didn't know it wasn't locked...so it was a blessing in disguise). Hundreds of people shuffled into the amphitheater, and the air was as crisp as the uniforms guiding us to our seats.

Important people were there, including a little boy with cancer. The Make a Wish Foundation was helping him achieve one of his dreams: to attend the sunrise service at Arlington Cemetery. When this was announced, I of course couldn't hold back the tears. How blessed I am.

Waiting for the sun to peek out over the top of the amphitheater...

There she is! They were singing the Hallelujah Chorus right as the sun appeared. It was splendid.

I'm in love with the American flag.

Happy Easter.

Lady, you're way off

On Easter Sunday, I took a lovely walk around the National Mall. Stopped by the steps of the reflecting pool to laugh at the tourists, and here are some goodies:

My view:

This is funny to me. If there wasn't a Lincoln Memorial behind me, it would be really funny.
